Neurodivergence Informed Therapy
Therapy that is tailored to your specific needs and does not assume that one way of thinking or experiencing the world is “correct” or universal. Making space for diversity of how people interpret, process, and feel differently.
Neurodivergence-Informed Therapy & Psychiatry
At Queer Therapy Boston, we recognize that every mind is unique. Neurodivergent individuals (autistic folks, people with ADHD, etc.) deserve therapy and psychiatric care that respects their lived experiences and affirms their identity. We reject the idea that mental health should be approached from a rigid, one-size-fits-all perspective. Healing looks different for everyone.
Affirming Neurodivergent Experiences
Neurodivergence is often misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or pathologized within traditional mental health settings. Too frequently, care providers focus on "fixing" behaviors rather than understanding them. At Queer Therapy Boston, we embrace the fact that different brains process, cope, and relate in distinct ways. We work with you to develop strategies that honor who you are—rather than forcing neurotypical expectations onto your experiences.
Rethinking Traditional Mental Health Narratives
Many neurodivergent individuals, especially within the LGBTQIA+ community, find themselves excluded from conventional therapy models. Masking, sensory sensitivities, executive function challenges, and unique emotional regulation styles are rarely accounted for in standard mental healthcare. Instead of framing neurodivergence as something to be “treated” or “overcome,” we approach it as an identity and experience deserving of respect and understanding.
Therapy with our team is collaborative—we trust your self-knowledge and work with you to develop a care plan that actually meets your needs. We understand that some clients come in with a self-diagnosis or an informal understanding of their neurodivergence. We honor your expertise in yourself and offer supportive, diagnostic-informed therapy and psychiatric medication management for ADHD and autistic individuals, without unnecessary gatekeeping.
ADHD & Autism-Affirming Psychiatry
Psychiatric care should be a partnership, not a prescriptive process that disregards your autonomy. Our queer, neurodivergent-aligned prescriber takes your concerns seriously and recognizes that ADHD and autistic traits can present differently depending on gender, life experiences, and background.
At Queer Therapy Boston:
You do not need a formal neuropsych evaluation or previous diagnosis to seek ADHD treatment.
We offer ADHD assessments as part of your care and provide thoughtful, affirming medication options, including stimulants when deemed appropriate.
Our prescriber is deeply informed on the ways ADHD, autism, anxiety, and executive function challenges overlap and works collaboratively with you to find approaches that help you thrive.
We acknowledge that mainstream psychiatric care often relies on outdated diagnostic criteria that fail to capture the experiences of marginalized communities—including autistic individuals with high-masking traits, women and AFAB individuals with ADHD, and neurodivergent people navigating trauma. Our approach is non-pathologizing and affirming; we focus on helping you build strategies that work for your brain, rather than forcing neurotypical expectations onto you.
Accessible, Judgment-Free Mental Healthcare
Neurodivergence is not a flaw or disorder—it is a valid way of experiencing the world. Many of our clients struggle with burnout from masking, sensory overload, executive dysfunction, rejection sensitivity, and feeling unheard by traditional providers. We are here to listen, affirm, and create care plans that actually fit you—not generic, neurotypical standards.
We are committed to accessibility and equity in mental healthcare. Our telehealth services allow us to provide statewide therapy and psychiatric care across Massachusetts, and we are happy to work with individuals seeking gender-affirming support, including free assessments for gender-affirming surgery.
If you’re ready to work with a team that respects your neurodivergence, understands your lived experiences, and offers therapy & psychiatry without judgment, shame, or gatekeeping, Queer Therapy Boston is here for you.
You are the expert on you. We’ll meet you where you are.
